Education University of Texas at Arlington, Texas Project Management Certification Program, May 2009 University of North Texas, Denton, Texas Professional Experience I have centralized and standardized the software and hardware procedures for researching and purchasing tools to enhance productive in the District. MISD migrated departmental and enterprise applications off an AS400 mainframe to a client-server application for all services in the District. We current support 150 servers with 226 applications to run our District.
I regularly obtain contracts, RFP, and purchases for consulting services following all state requirements for purchasing and bidding. During the last seven years, I have researched, design, planned, purchased, managed, and setup 42 new facilities with the necessary infrastructure and technology for the District. This included all the specification for the infrastructure, fire and security, cameras, telecommunications, and VoIP services district-wide. During the past year, Mansfield ISD Technology Department has won four national awards and had 15 articles written on programs and infrastructure design used in the District. In my current position with Mansfield ISD, I am responsible for planning all technology projects in order to accomplish its goals or produce the products required within constraints such as time, cost and agreed quality standards. Normally, I am responsible for maintaining all technology project budgets. I have ownership of the Technology budget for each facility with each budgets ranging from $300,000 to $6.3 Million. This requires continuous monitoring of progress in terms of the status of the plans and the budgets and reporting back to the board, senior management, via weekly or other progress reporting and managing status meetings and District Board meetings. I make it a point to anticipate and catch deviations from a plan or schedule early and keep all participants and stakeholders informed. I identify, log, analyze and manage potential and actual issues and risks, taking corrective action by tackling day-to-day issues head on and reviewing how more serious issues and risks might impact on scope, schedule, quality and cost. This requires that I identify management issues and risks or accommodating altered requirements will involve extra time or extra resources and where efficiencies can be made. As the Chief Technology Officer, I need to articulate and negotiate consensus on all final visions of each product and/or the core project goals from scoping the requirements of all stakeholders, not forgetting the end-user. I define acceptance criteria or work with specialists to define acceptance criteria for project deliverables and will works towards achieving stakeholder acceptance of deliverables, working hard at being courteous and polite in written and oral communication, and able to get ideas across in a non-confrontational manner in one-to-one situations, small groups, and before large audiences. My job requires that I identify the need for resources, and subsequently take on team management responsibilities in relation to the resource available to the project. This means that I work directly with the team members or with their team leaders to estimate effort, plan activities and negotiate consensus among individual team members on their appointed tasks. Alternatively, the work or parts of the work may be done by third party contractors, managed and coordinated by me by breaking down tasks into smaller detail with milestones.
