Welcome to The Virtual School Experience
Welcome to the ESC Region 12 Virtual School
An Approved Provider in the Texas Virtual School Network!
Spring is here and the ESC Region 12 Virtual School is participating in the Texas Virtual School Network (TxVSN) through a partnership with Advanced Academics to provide online courses to students that could not fit all their classes into their schedule or for students who want to get ahead on their credits!
The Texas Virtual School Network (TxVSN) was authorized by the Texas Legislature in 2007 to provide online courses to students in Texas. Special scholarships to help with the costs for TxVSN approved online courses are available. That funding is in addition to the regular state aid districts receive for students.
The TxVSN was formed via collaboration between the Texas Education Agency, Region 10 Education Service Center, Harris County Department of Education and Region 4 Education Service Center. More information about the TxVSN and the roles of each partner and course options is available on the TxVSN website: http://www.txvsn.org
Schedule/Timeline
Spring Courses began on January 9th and should be completed by May 9th. Please note that students could NOT start working on their actual course work until January 9th, unless you requested for them to start earlier. Each coordinator can set their own start and end dates for students just by sending me an email.

Virtual School online course offerings are supported by Advanced Academics, which is the name the student will see when He or She goes to the login page located at http://roads.advancedacademics.com.
Students must complete about 7% of a course per week. Please call me if you need special assistance with any specific situations. 877-571-7312.
You may ask for additional time for any courses or any student. The end of the semester is our target, but we will make exceptions based on your request to make a student successful.
Continuous Enrollment
Continuous Enrollment will be available until April 15. This will allow any student to be registered in ESC Region 12 Virtual School through TxVSN and take any course for 120 days, no matter when they start the course. Call me if you have a specific course in which you need to enroll a student. 877-571-7312.
Grades Exams Reports
Each coordinator will receive a weekly report on Sundays and Wednesdays for all of their students enrolled in the ESC Region 12 Virtual School through TxVSN. If you would like to have access to our management system to get your own reports, just email me and I will set that up for you.
The weekly progress report you will be getting on Sundays will calculate the PACE Grade for each student in each course. In the past, there were no penalties for late work in the current average. Now, the PACE Grade will be based on the work that should have been completed as listed in the Calendar for each course.
Example: Today, four weeks into a course, a student’s current grade is 100%, but they have only completed 2% of the course. They should have completed 20% of the course. They would now receive zeroes for all late work, UNTIL IT IS COMPLETED. Their current grade would therefore not be a 100%, but a 10%.
All Mid-Term and Final Exams must be taken at school in a proctored setting. Please have students set up times to take the exams in a proctored setting. You can even ask the student to take their exams on any dates you wish to set. The password for all the tests and for all courses at your school is: A Secret.
Technical Support

PLEASE ENCOURAGE ALL STUDENTS TO USE THIS FEATURE. They just click on the “Talk to Teacher” button at the top right side of the screen for immediate help in their course! IMPORTANT: The student needs to disable any pop-up blocking software on their computer(s) in order for the “Talk to Teacher” window to open.
